The SpeedCell series is especially designed for applications
where acquisition of accurate data at high frequency is paramount.
The undamped load cell can be considered as a very stiff spring
which "rings" after receiving a shock load. Due to this physical
characteristic, the cell needs several seconds for the measurement
to stabilize, which is totally unacceptable in the case of
repetitive loads at high speed. |

The very best performance of the SpeedCell series will be obtained by paying special attention to its mechanical environment and mounting. Fig. 1 shows a damping coeficient of 1/10 which means that perfect isolation has been obtained between the load cell and all parts in motion, using a bolt torque of 25 to 30 Nm on hardware which is perfectly rigid and horizontal, and by reducing the dead weight as much as possible. |

The principle of the SpeedCell is based on the integration of a "dash pot" inside the product's base plate. The mechanical connection between the load cell (1) and the submerged plate (6) is ensured by an interface (2) which is also used to protect the overall system against shocks being stopped by two washers (4), installed during manufacturing . An extremely flexible membrane (7) is fixed by a mounting plate (3) which maintains a perfect leakproof seal all around the cyclinder and prevents any ingress of washdown liquid inside it. The damping oil (5) is totally isolated from the outside by the membrane which also ensures the "breathing" of the system in order to avoid any measurement disturbance due to atmospheric pressure variations. The complete system is extremely compact and perfectly adapted to demanding industrial environments. |
